Product Description

The ASIAN Smoke Density Chamberis constructed essentially, the chamberconsist of a 14 gage aluminum box which is hinged a heat resistant glass glazeddoor. This box is mounted on the base which houses the controls. Dependent uponthe materials tested, the metal may require protection from corrosion. Thechamber is sealed except for 25 by 30mm (1by 9in.) openings on the four sidesof the bottom of the chamber

Precision Smoke Density Testing

Engineered for high reliability, the Smoke Density Tester employs a solid-state photoelectric cell to accurately measure optical density changes from 0-100%. Its digital LED display, fine resolution (0.01%), and rapid response time (<2 seconds) make it indispensable for assessing the fire retardancy and smoke emission characteristics of materials such as plastics, cables, and polymers.

Advanced Safety and Durability Features

Equipped with thermal insulation, heat-protected handles, and a hose-free, natural draught exhaust system, this tester ensures operator safety and chamber longevity during rigorous high-temperature testing. The robust stainless-steel construction and toughened viewing glass also withstand harsh laboratory use and prolonged heating cycles.

Ease of Use and Versatility

Designed for laboratory convenience, this benchtop tester offers both manual and semi-automatic modes via a user-friendly panel. The removable, stainless-steel chimney permits quick cleaning and maintenance. Specimen insertion is simplified with a standardized port, catering to a wide variety of fire safety and polymer testing applications.

FAQ's of SMOKE DENSITY TESTER:

Q: How does the Smoke Density Tester measure smoke density?

A: The tester uses a solid-state photoelectric cell to determine the change in light transmission through smoke produced by burning a specimen. This change is digitized and displayed as a specific optical density (0-100%), complying with ASTM D2843 standards.

Q: What materials can be tested using this equipment?

A: The Smoke Density Tester is suitable for plastics, cables, polymers, insulation materials, and other compounds where smoke generation under fire exposure must be evaluated for safety or compliance testing.

Q: When should I use the timer mode versus manual mode?

A: The timer mode is typically used for standardized test durations to ensure repeatable results, while manual mode can be chosen for setup or special test scenarios. The digital timer supports test periods from 0 to 99 minutes for flexibility.

Q: Where is this Smoke Density Tester typically installed?

A: This device is designed as a benchtop cabinet, making it ideal for fire safety labs, material research facilities, and testing laboratories focused on fire retardancy and material compliance.

Q: What is the testing process for smoke density?

A: A specimen is mounted within the chamber, exposed to controlled burning using an LPG or Bunsen burner (externally supplied), and the resulting smoke is analyzed in real-time by the photodetector. The amount of light obscuration is digitally recorded to quantify the smoke density.

Q: How is operator safety ensured during tests?

A: The unit features a heat-resistant, toughened glass viewing window, thermal insulation, heat-protected handles, and a naturally-ventilated vertical exhaust. These safeguards protect the user against burns and excessive heat while maintaining chamber integrity.

Q: What are the key benefits of using this Smoke Density Tester?

A: This tester provides precise, standardized evaluation of smoke emission, aiding in regulatory compliance and product development for safer, lower-smoke materials. Its robust build, quick response, and comprehensive safety features make it a reliable choice for any fire safety laboratory.
